The St. Johns River Center showcases the unique and varied ecosystems of the St. Johns River as well as its unique history, culture, and commerce. Visitors can participate in group tours or self-guided visits.

Staff-led programs, offered by appointment, include topics on:

  • natural history of the area;
  • William Bartram’s travels in Palatka and Putnam County;
  • 19th century Steamboat trade;
  • commerce and industry of the River;
  • types of wetlands and their importance; and
  • plants and animals of the River

From I-95: Take exit 311 and merge onto FL-207 South towards Palatka. Continue for 19.3 miles, then turn right onto Hwy 17 and continue for 2.1 miles. Turn left onto N. 2nd Street. Turn left onto St. Johns Avenue, and left onto N.1st St. We are located at the corner of St. Johns Ave. and N. 1st Street directly across from the Clock Tower in Riverfront Park. Parking is available in city lots on both sides of N.1st Street.
