On Monday, the City of Palatka Community Affairs Department held the first in a series of meetings to discuss the community's needs and how the department can best meet those needs.
The meeting held at the City's Jenkins Middle School Community Center was attended by several public members who volunteered to be members of a task force to make recommendations on different programs and activities they would like to see in the City.
"The members of the task force will come together and make recommendations on how we can best serve the residents of Palatka and address some of the underlying issues that affect our community," said Reno Fells, Community Affairs recreation coordinator, "One of the things we heard in the meeting was that people want more activities other than sports, things like community days with activities for children and adults. That is what this meeting was about. Learning how we can best serve the residents of Palatka."
Anyone wanting to volunteer to be a member of the Community Affairs task force can call the department at (386) 329-0100 ext. 331.
