[ARCHIVED] Palatka to hold Stop Gun Violence CommUNITY Day

Palatka – City of Palatka Commissioner Will Jones is hosting Stop Gun Violence CommUNITY Day on Saturday, October 19th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Amphitheater in the City’s James C. Godwin Riverfront Park. This community event aims to bring residents together to address the growing issue of gun violence in Palatka and work toward collective solutions.

Gun violence has become a pressing issue in the Palatka community, impacting the lives of many. Commissioner Jones, alongside local leaders, is taking a stand by inviting residents to engage in meaningful conversations and act toward reducing violence and promoting peace. This event offers a platform for community members to come together, support one another, and work on building a safer, healthier future for Palatka.

The event will feature remarks from Commissioner Jones, motivational speaker Dr. Fairest Hill, and other City leaders, as well as an appearance by actress Stephanie Beauford. Pastors, clergy, and other local leaders are encouraged to participate. They will be given 5-10 minutes to address attendees, sharing their perspectives on the impact of gun violence and the steps needed to prevent further tragedies.

In addition to the discussions, Stop Gun Violence CommUNITY Day will include live performances by local bands and DJs, a kid’s zone, food trucks, and more, making it a fun and family-friendly day for all.

Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in this important event. Residents are encouraged to bring their families, friends, and neighbors to show solidarity and work together toward making Palatka a safer and more unified community.
