RE: Palatka to hold Alternative Water Treatment Pilot Study Workshops
The City of Palatka will hold a series of Public Workshops around the City regarding a proposed Alternative Water Treatment Pilot Study for City of Palatka Water Utility Customers. Currently, the following workshops have been scheduled:
- January 4, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Hammock Hall, 429 Kirby Street, Palatka, 32177
- January 8, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Price Martin Center, 220 N. 11th Street, Palatka, 32177.
The purpose of these Workshops is to discuss and answer questions regarding the current Trihalomethane (THM) levels in the water and a proposed alternative treatment process. A public notice was distributed in November regarding the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) exceedance to Palatka residents who are currently on City water utilities. The City has been working with the Florida Rural Water Association and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to develop strategies to lower THM levels. In this workshop we will discuss a pilot study of an alternate treatment process to reduce THMs.
