City of Palatka Commission Directs Staff to Prepare Updated Budget with Lower Millage Rate
Palatka, FL- September 26, 2025 — At last night’s City Commission meeting, commissioners discussed the proposed millage rate for the upcoming fiscal year. Following deliberation, the Commission chose not to take a formal vote on the millage rate at this time.
Instead, the Commission directed the City’s Finance Director to prepare an updated budget reflecting the lower rollback rate of 6.2397 mills for consideration. This decision allows commissioners and the public to review the financial impacts of a reduced rate before any final action is taken.
“The Commission is committed to ensuring that our residents and businesses are supported by a budget that balances fiscal responsibility with the needs of our community,” said Mayor Correa. “As we move forward, this step provides the opportunity for further evaluation and transparency.”
The updated budget will be presented on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM, where commissioners will revisit the millage rate decision prior to the state-mandated deadline for adoption.
